An everyday task is simple for individuals without vision impairments, but those who are blind or vision impaired can often times encounter difficulties due to lack of accessibility in design. An example is purchasing a train ticket. What takes less than a minute for one, may take more than double for others.

EVERYDAY TASK

Interface for a blind passenger

On the left is a way for a blind train rider to purchase a ticket with a video user interface.

Interface for a visually impaired passenger

Below is a video user interface for train riders who are familiar with his or her needs: destination, type of ticket, and number of tickets.

The screen populates the spoken information and asks for any other details the rider has left out.
